Checking your Hard Drive for Errors

Image description This is done by clicking on start then my computer then right click local c drive (C:), scroll down to properties and click on tools

Now click on check now

And please put a tick beside automatically fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. Then click start.

You should now see a warning screen saying that this can’t be done until you restart your computer so click yes to exit.

You now need to restart your computer, do this by clicking start then shut down and restart.

When your computer is restarting windows will inform you that a hard drive scan was scheduled it gives you the option to skip this by pressing esc, however please let this scan continue to help fix any problems with your computer. (Do not press esc).

Once again this may take some time so feel free to leave your computer while it’s scanning. It is best if this process is done once a month to help keep your hard drive in good working order and preventing your hard drive from crashing causing you to lose all your data.
